Who's Got The Hexham Heads?

from Pareidolia by Chris Harris

/

about

The tale of the Hexham Heads makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Two boys discovered them while playing in their back garden and the things appeared to precipitate a deluge of weird experiences for everyone who came in contact with them. Except that a former neighbour eventually came forward and revealed that he'd made them out of concrete as a joke for his daughter in 1956 and had eventually thrown them out...

The current whereabouts of the heads (which quite frankly from the scant photographs that were taken of them look every bit as though they were made out of concrete by a jobbing builder having a laugh) is unknown.

lyrics

Les and Colin found them back in '71
buried in the garden of their house
Focus for a wave of spooky goings-on
Weird stuff in large amounts

We can't sleep safely in our beds
Who's got the Hexham Heads?

Took them to the Abbey to see what they were
Gave an archaeologist a fright
She woke to see a figure covered all in fur,
a werewolf in plain sight!

A neighbour said he'd made the heads in '56
moulded them from concrete, as you do
So why would they possess this witchy bag of tricks?
And where the heads are now, I have no clue...

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
