Austerity

about

Another Saturday single, written for the Fifty/Ninety challenge that runs from July 4th to October 1st every year.

lyrics

The Government's decided
That the fun has got to end
They've taken all our money
And they gave it to their friends
The level of incompetence
Will drive me round the bend
They're never going to realise
It's on us that they depend

Every year gets harder
Than the year that went before
We keep getting less
While the rich keep getting more
They might try to deny it
But I think we know the score
The simplest explanation's
That they really hate the poor

The lame might need their crutches
But they're taking them away
The sick in need of medication
Must be prepared to pay
The wealthy done supporting
Those less fortunate than they
They don't see us as people
They just see us as prey...

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
