Get Your Christmas On

by Chris Harris

The festive season is at hand so spread goodwill across the land Abandon conflict, find release and help each other find our peace THe years don't go the way we planned Some principles no longer stand but while our challenges increase we help each other find our peace This Christmas might not be what we wanted We have to make it what we need We'll be like Jason and his band and though the Argo is stuck in sand 'til we take back the Golden Fleece we'll help each other find our peace

If I Could 03:52
If I could, I'd stay in here all day surrounded by my books and my guitars If I could, I'd sleep the night away or maybe spend it gazing at the stars It's not to be, 'cause real life sucks we have to concentrate on bringing in the bucks If I could, I'd write the sort of song You'd want to keep forever in your heart If I could, I'd be where I belong Every day I'd spend on making art If I could, I'd turn the planet green covering the Amazon with trees If I could, my conscience would be clean although I know there are no guarantees

Few things give my life less meaning Than when I am vacuum cleaning Except when I must iron all The laundry drying in the hall Gardening is such a bore you cut things back, they just grow more but painting is the worst by far I'd rather sit and play guitar I must confess I once made Marie Kondo curse I'm good with mess and cleaning only makes it worse So keep an eye out for the dust I only clean here when I must For as I have explained to you I've got much nicer things to do I must confess I once made Marie Kondo curse I'm good with mess and cleaning only makes it worse

I try to keep on smiling Though some days, it's mighty hard When fresh troubles keep arriving I can see them in the yard. I don't know what I'm going to do I don't know why I'm still alive Without my wheels I guess I am through I've gone and lost my drive I'm feeling just like that groundhog I've no shadow; I'm bereft I just had to shoot my old hound dog And my wife has up and left I don't know what I'm going to do I don't know why I'm still alive Without my wheels I guess I am through I've gone and lost my drive I tried to stop my grieving But the thing that hurt the most Is that my truck just said it's leaving And it's heading for the coast I don't know what I'm going to do I don't know why I'm still alive Without my wheels I guess I am through I've gone and lost my drive

One channel says that it's a good thing Another says that it's the worst One talking head says this is old ground Their counterpart says it's a first Who are they trying to deceive? It's hard to know who to believe I can't agree with you or your party line You have your point of view, and I have mine Smart people know to go to college So they can get the best advice Politicians say, "So much for knowledge" treat expertise like it's a vice Now stupid is as stupid does It's ended up in charge of us Not every comment is consistent Not every protest is an act Just because an idea is persistent I'm not obliged to take the thing as fact You're going to need to give me proof that what you're saying is the truth

Zealot 03:28
He's snatched his moment in the spotlight He says the path ahead is clear I know just what that future looks like I know it's going to cost us dear Although he tells us not to fear He gives us soundbites in abundance But sadly none of them are true I can't wait 'til he is made redundant Replace the old guard with the new It's just the smartest thing to do But even if we ask politely I doubt he'll willingly step down We know his conduct is unsightly But who will run him out of town? Who will rid us of this clown?

Always turning inward Won't admit the Other exists While your empire withers All that you despise still persists I can only see the hubris Waiting for your fate to descend Sifting through the debris Knowing that we're reaching the end Raising up your monuments Commemorating all that you've lost Nothing's ever permanent Was all that you got worth the cost? Fortify your borders You will never see it don't work Giving people orders This is not the same as Dunkirk Turn your back on unity Saying that it's not what you need The land of opportunity You want to create's based on greed Raising up your monuments Commemorating all that you've lost Nothing's ever permanent Was all that you got worth the cost? Abandoning your principles The oligarchs you let take control No different from criminals - Can't you see they've stolen your soul? Nothing's insurmountable But this was never going to end well I hope that those accountable End up in the deepest of hells Raising up your monuments Commemorating all that you've lost Nothing's ever permanent Was all that you got worth the cost?

Area X 05:45
It's a dimensional barrier. Only one person who crossed it has ever come back. The area of contamination's getting bigger. It'll reach the nearest city in two months; three months, tops. We have no idea how to stop it. We don't even know what it is. Just head for the lighthouse.

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
