Get your filthy hands off my spaceship

by Chris Harris

about

I don't often write songs about current affairs but when I saw the photo this week of a certain politician's visit to NASA, this one pretty much wrote itself...

lyrics

The sign is right in front of you
It says what not to do
You chose to show the entire world
You haven't got a clue

The way you act ain't stately
The way you look ain't grand
Keep your grubby paws off things
That you don't understand

Did you never learn to read
when you were back in school?
Or might it be, perhaps, you think
Signs don't apply to you?

(chorus)

Did you hate the clever kids
In science class back then?
Does your resentment linger?
Did it bubble up again?

(chorus)

The media's got your number
They're acting all surprised
Whilst showing us you shouldn't be
let out unsupervised

(chorus)

When you finally succumb
We'll read on your headstone:
"Here lies poor Mike, we never should have
left him on his own

His act was never stately
His look was never grand
He couldn't keep his paws off things
He didn't understand."

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
