Vacation For A Traditional Suitcase

from 2013 - The Instrumentals by Chris Harris

/

about

One of the tools on the 50/90 and FAWM websites that's intended to inspire musicians in need of a slightly bigger spark is something called "titular". It's a random song title generator. Over the past few years I've played with it quite a bit, but the titles it comes up with can be weird beyond belief. "Bees 40", anyone?

A couple of months ago I was idly clicking away and this title appeared. "Oh yes," I thought. "I can do something with that." I could hear the lush, reverb-drenched washes of synthesizer pads even as I booted up the studio gear. And it turned out even better than I hoped. In fact this may be my favourite of all the pieces of music I've recorded this year.

Enjoy.

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
