Trickle Charge

from Misdirection by Chris Harris

/

about

We're back to transportation. My car's battery died last month. Replacing it cost rather more than I'd anticipated but at least I got a nice metaphor and some cheesy lyrics out of the process.

lyrics

It's not like I was struggling
I manage, by and large
It's just that every now and then
I could use a trickle charge

I guess I won't be heading out
or driving to the shops
Some days I get about
Some days life just stops

Some days, negotiating hurdles is a breeze
Some days I think my starter motor may have seized

If you could track my energy
on any given day
You'd see its variability
and watch it fade away

I think I've pushed this metaphor
so far it's gonna snap
That's what this three-pin plug is for:
switch on, and take a nap

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
