The third of a suite of songs written during May 2021 as the effects of climate change began to make themselves felt very strongly.

We've reached the moment we finally see
We're in a climate emergency
Temperature rising, it's through the roof
Still in denial? Out there's your proof

This is a blowtorch, it's not a breeze
It broke the records by four degrees
And this is June, lest you forget;
July and August be hotter yet

The weather's out of joint
We've reached the tipping point

Economics won't care
about a load of hot air
and now we haven't a prayer
Democracy has been hacked
and by ignoring the facts
our leaders failed to act
Ecology in retreat
while tarmac melts in the street
because we turned up the heat
Things go to ruin and wrack
Will we just follow the pack
leave it too late to turn back?

Those carbon offsets? They're just a scam
to salve our conscience, not worth a damn
We're past the point where planting trees
is going to set my mind at ease

We put off acting, left it too late
and now the climate is changing state
We've reached the point of no return
Will we just let our planet burn?
