The Improbable

from Pareidolia by Chris Harris

about

In "Masks of Time" the author Joan Forman wrote about seeing some children in odd costumes playing on the stairs during a visit to Haddon Hall in Derbyshire. Later on during the same visit, she examined the hall's collection of family portraits in an attempt to establish the identity one of the girls she'd seen. She was successful; the portrait she found was of Grace, Lady Manners, who would have been at the same age as the girl on the stairs back in 1584 or so...

Robert Taylor's experience took place in 1979 in woods near Livingston, in East Lothian, Scotland. He related seeing a 'flying dome' and was then apparently mugged by two objects that he described as 'looking like sea mines'. His wife reported that when he arrived home he had torn clothing and ripped trousers; the police recorded the incident as a case of criminal assault, the first (and to my knowledge, only) UFO encounter ever to be recorded as such.

lyrics

Joan Forman tells a story
which I think you ought to know
of falling through a crack in time
to centuries ago

Why is it more and more events
have long ceased making any sense?

From ghosts and ghouls to poltergeists
and a ship once called Marie Celeste
When it comes to the improbable
Science is not impressed

Robert Taylor was a victim
of a criminal assault
but how can he press charges
if it's aliens at fault?

Since the Tories came to power
Chaos has ensued
Who is it still supports them,
'cos they haven't got a clue?

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
