Solid Light

from Pareidolia by Chris Harris

about

A lot of accounts of unusual experiences describe light behaving in ways that sound extremely weird, such as searchlight beams that "stopped in mid air" and then "retracted" into the main phenomenon, or door-sized blocks of light that moved through hedges, or "faded and blew away on the wind".

I thought these descriptions sounded like utter tosh. Then I read about the MIT experiments described below. It's all very intriguing stuff.

lyrics

The MIT-Harvard Center for Ultracold Atoms
conducted experiments in the 2010s.

Single photons were fired from weak lasers
into a dense cloud of rubidium
cooled to near absolute zero.

The speed of light in the cloud
was about 100,000 times slower
than in a vacuum.

Within the cloud,
photons lost energy
and gained mass!

The conditions allowed photons
to attract and bind to other photons,
and exit the cloud as molecules.

Many UFO reports
refer to a phenomenon
described as "solid light"

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
