ALIEN THREAT FROM OUR MOON

from Out There by Chris Harris

about

There's a certain type of enthusiast in this field whose writing—if they're lucky enough to find a publisher—relies heavily on barrages of silly questions, underlined text, and extensive use of the caps lock key. If you're writing such material, the traditional approach is to ask the question: "What if (ludicrously implausible theory) is true?" and then you can spend the rest of the book beginning paragraphs with "Because we know that (ludicrously implausible theory) is true, that means that..."

I have more than one book that covers the ground described here; you wouldn't think that lunar consipracy theories would be a literary genre, but oh boy, it is. There's even a community out there who believe that the Moon is effectively a giant movie prop, and is hollow. And no, I am not making this up.

lyrics

You say you're trained and I don't mean to grouse
Your thesis just makes me annoyed
I see a pixel where you see a house
You're finding structure where all I can see is noise

Where your interpretations tend to fail
(and sorry, but this cannot be denied)
is that you're lacking any sense of scale
that house has doors that are two kilometres wide

You think that it's threatening;
I'm pretty sure I've heard enough
Because a photo can be anything
Provided it's been blurred enough

The question that occurs to me
(and it's the reason why I wrote this tune)
is why no-one else sees what you see
whenever they observe the Moon?

Please understand I'd help you if I could
but you're not really finding clues
Your scanner's only going to be as good
as the old photographs that you decide to use

But when it comes to quoting conversations
between the astronauts and ground
long since debunked as complete fabrication
I must conclude that all you've written is unsound

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
