about

I've discovered over the years that I love writing songs in 5/4. Singing them is another matter entirely, but this time around I found a way to make things fit that I'm really pleased with.

First solo: Parket Fly Mojo Midi
Second solo: G&L S-500

lyrics

Always turning inward
Won't admit the Other exists
While your empire withers
All that you despise still persists
I can only see the hubris
Waiting for your fate to descend
Sifting through the debris
Knowing that we're reaching the end

Raising up your monuments
Commemorating all that you've lost
Nothing's ever permanent
Was all that you got worth the cost?

Fortify your borders
You will never see it don't work
Giving people orders
This is not the same as Dunkirk
Turn your back on unity
Saying that it's not what you need
The land of opportunity
You want to create's based on greed

Raising up your monuments
Commemorating all that you've lost
Nothing's ever permanent
Was all that you got worth the cost?

Abandoning your principles
The oligarchs you let take control
No different from criminals -
Can't you see they've stolen your soul?
Nothing's insurmountable
But this was never going to end well
I hope that those accountable
End up in the deepest of hells

Raising up your monuments
Commemorating all that you've lost
Nothing's ever permanent
Was all that you got worth the cost?

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
