This Interlude Sponsored By Ono-Sendai

about

Another 50/90 track, this was recorded using an Ableton Push controlling Live Suite 9. I love the Push; it's a great tool if you want to broaden your sonic palette. This track has far more processing on it than anything else on the album, and rendering the final mix gave my computer quite a workout.

In case you were wondering, Ono-Sendai is an equipment manufacturer in William Gibson's genre-defining cyberpunk classic, "Neuromancer". They build the "deck" that the hero uses for accessing cyberspace. Their gear is the best, of course.

I wanted to evoke a future Japan in a profoundly digital age, but at the same time hark back to Japanese traditional scales and the 1980s, when the book was written. The future of Case and Molly lies along a different timeline to ours, but Gibson's world where huge corporations - zaibatsus - are running things rather than governments is beginning to look scarily prescient.

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
