Xenotaph 06:42
Always turning inward Won't admit the Other exists While your empire withers All that you despise still persists I can only see the hubris Waiting for your fate to descend Sifting through the debris Knowing that we're reaching the end Raising up your monuments Commemorating all that you've lost Nothing's ever permanent Was all that you got worth the cost? Fortify your borders You will never see it don't work Giving people orders This is not the same as Dunkirk Turn your back on unity Saying that it's not what you need The land of opportunity You want to create's based on greed Raising up your monuments Commemorating all that you've lost Nothing's ever permanent Was all that you got worth the cost? Abandoning your principles The oligarchs you let take control No different from criminals - Can't you see they've stolen your soul? Nothing's insurmountable But this was never going to end well I hope that those accountable End up in the deepest of hells Raising up your monuments Commemorating all that you've lost Nothing's ever permanent Was all that you got worth the cost?

The face that you're seeing; The face turned away What's confirmed as being; What is left as hearsay The things we accepted in the absence of proof And those we rejected in spite of their truth Do we take the action They expect us to take when caught by distraction and a story that's fake? Do we challenge the lies and the things they demand? Don't examine the eyes Instead, study the hands The people who tell you They're ahead in the polls Are trying to sell you Their form of control They're always denying What the rest of us prove You can tell that they're lying When you see their lips move The things that they say have no value or worth and countless the ways that they're wrecking the Earth Their time must diminish their influence gone Because, at the finish, we're all in this as one

about

My first musical love was progressive rock, and nearly fifty years after I started listening to it, I'm still coming back for more. Over the years I've learned to play many of the instruments that helped to create the music I love, so perhaps inevitably, prog has become the music I love playing, too. On this EP I'm programming drums and playing a selection of instruments from my collection of synthesizers, bass, Chapman Stick, and six- and nine-string electric guitars.

The music here was all created during February 2019. This EP is a way for me to let my influences show. I hope you have fun spotting them.

about

Chris Harris Bristol, UK

I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
